Microsoft has confirmed a problem with a recently released Windows update. KB5014697 has been released for all versions of Windows that still receive regular fixes, from Windows 11 version 21H2 to Windows 7 SP1.
After the update, many users are affected by the fact that the Wi-Fi hotspot function, where you share the internet from ethernet or the mobile network over Wi-Fi, causes the Internet connection to stop working completely until the function is turned off.
The cause is not yet clear and Microsoft lists the error as “under investigation”. There is no temporary solution either – Microsoft’s suggestion is to simply stop using Wi-Fi hotspots.
