The pandemic has led to a PC boom, and Microsoft has clocked in a lot of new Windows users over the past year. In March 2020, the important limit of one billion active users was passed, and during April of this year, Windows has passed 1.3 billion users, reports Zdnet.
The figure was presented during Microsoft’s quarterly report for the third quarter of the company’s broken fiscal year. CFO Amy Hood said PC sales have been extremely strong despite shortages of several components, contributing to the company’s revenue of $41.7 billion in the quarter ended March 31.
Windows sales to PC manufacturers increased ten percent during the quarter – 44 percent up for consumer licenses but two percent down for business licenses.
Microsoft also reveals that it has around 300 million subscribers to the Microsoft 365 service, of which 50 million are consumers.
