Update to Firefox 4 stops 14 security holes

Last Friday, Mozilla released the company’s first update for Firefox 4 since the new browser was released just over a month ago. The update, which received version number 4.0.1, closes a total of 14 security holes, ten of which have been classified as critical.

One of the security holes affecting the Webgles graphics library is not unique to Firefox, but also affects Google Chrome. Several of the other security holes that are fixed in the update deal with memory management.

The update downloads automatically for Firefox 4.0 users, but requires a browser restart to install. The latest version of the browser can also be downloaded from the Mozilla website.
