This is how Microsoft will earn even more – on Android

Microsoft has signed a license agreement with the Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Pegatron regarding technologies related to Android. Pegatron belongs to one of the world’s largest electronics manufacturers.

The new agreement means that Microsoft now has license agreements with four out of five of the largest electronics manufacturers in Taiwan.

Microsoft holds several patents for technologies used in Android and Chrome. The company has previously signed similar license agreements with, among others, Samsung and HTC, which means that Microsoft earns a penny for every Android phone sold. In the agreement with HTC, Microsoft earns five dollars (about SEK 33) for each sold Android phone from HTC.

The new agreement with Pegatron means that more than 70 percent of all devices used in the United States use licenses from Microsoft, Microsoft said in a statement, according to Zdnet.
