According to Megaupload’s attorney, Ira P. Rothken, the company will begin negotiations Thursday with attorneys representing the U.S. Department of Justice.
The purpose of the negotiations is to find a solution that will enable Megaupload to make the service’s files available to its users. In total, Megaupload is responsible for 28 petabytes of files and documents that disappeared from the internet when the company was raided in January.
If this week’s negotiations fail, the case will be put before a court to make the decision, says Ira P. Rothken.
