That’s how many Xbox Ones were sold in the first day

Yesterday was the start of sales for Microsoft’s new game console, Xbox One. Within 24 hours, the company sold one million copies, making it the most successful Xbox launch ever.

– We are both humbled and grateful for the great interest in Xbox worldwide, says a spokesperson for Microsoft.

Yesterday’s release of the Xbox One mirrors Sony’s success with the Playstation 4, which also sold a million copies in the first 24 hours when the game console was released last week.

However, the Xbox One was released in a total of 13 countries yesterday, eleven more than the Playstation 4. In Sweden, we will have to wait for the Xbox One until sometime early next year, the Playstation 4 will however be released on November 29.

Several of the 22 games initially available for Xbox One are played online, which allowed Microsoft to measure activity during the first day. According to Microsoft, 60 million zombies have been killed in Dead Rising 3 and over 8.5 million enemies have been killed in Ryse: Son of Rome.
