Surf incognito – so no one sees what you’ve done

All modern browsers support the function of hiding your browsing habits from the person who comes after you at the computer. Some call it private browsing, while in Chrome, for example, it’s called incognito mode.

Note that this does not mean that you become “invisible” online – you can still leave your mark there. However, this means that all cookies are deleted when you close your window and that no history is saved of visited pages and downloaded files.

surf anonymouslyPrivate browsing is always started in a separate window and the methods for doing so differ between browsers. This is how it works in the four most common:

Internet Explorer:
The mode is called Private. Press the hotkey Ctrl + Shift + P or choose InPrivate Browsing in Toolmenu.

Firefox:
The mode is called private browsing. Press the hotkey Ctrl + Shift + P or choose Start private browsing in Toolmenu. Unlike other browsers, all existing open tabs are closed when you switch to this mode, but they are saved and can be restored when you return to normal mode.

Google Chrome:
The mode is called incognito mode. Press the hotkey Ctrl + Shift + N or click on the wrench in the upper right corner and select New incognito window.

Opera:
The mode is called private browsing. Press the hotkey Ctrl + Shift + N or click on Operaicon in the upper left corner and select New private tab or New private window during Tabs and windows.
