Run web pages in Internet Explorer mode – in Edge

On June 15, all support was given old Internet Explorer 11 down from Microsoft’s site. For security reasons, that browser should no longer be used. So what do you do if you accidentally visit an older website that doesn’t support modern browsers? Or, for example, if your company has an old, incompatible intranet that requires Internet Explorer?

Then the built-in Internet Explorer compatibility in Microsoft’s modern Edge browser comes into play. With a few simple steps, you can make choices about how to use that function.

Explorer
  1. Start Edge and click on the ellipsis (the three dots) in the top right.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. click Default web browser in the menu on the left.
  4. Choose Allow in the scroll bar at Allow websites to load in Internet Explorer mode.
  5. Restart the browser.
  6. The easiest way to use compatibility mode is then to simply right-click on a tab and select Reload the tab in Internet Explorer mode. You will also find additional possibilities to use Internet Explorer mode in the same place in the settings.
