Microsoft yesterday warned users of the 64-bit version of Windows 7 about a newly discovered bug. According to Microsoft, the bug could allow a hacker to take control of the computer.
The bug affects a driver for the graphics card called “Canonical Display Driver”. The driver is responsible for the graphical interface in Windows 7 and affects everyone who has the Aero function turned on. Aero is turned on by default when Windows 7 is installed.
According to Microsoft, users of the 64-bit version of Windows 7 should turn off Aero until an update for the problem is released. Microsoft says the company is working on an update, but has yet to say when it will be available.
Users of the 32-bit version of Windows 7 are not affected by the problem.
