Microsoft wants to change the default font for Office

Microsoft will change the default font for its Office apps next year, The Verge reports.

The company has commissioned five new purpose-built sans-serif typefaces: Bierstadt, Grandview, Seaford, Skeena and Tenorite. One of these will become the new standard font, taking over for Calibri, which has been the standard for Office for close to 15 years.

Microsoft has now made the five fonts available in Microsoft 365 to collect feedback and conduct user surveys.

The plan is for the new standard font to be designated and become official in Microsoft Office apps sometime in 2022.
