Due to patent infringement, a Texas judge has given Microsoft 60 days to make changes to Microsoft’s Office suite. The ruling claims that the ability to save files with customized xml code violates a patent owned by the company I4i.
Both Word 2003 and Word 2007 have the ability to save files with customized xml code based on the proprietary technology. The sales ban only applies in the United States.
Earlier this year, Microsoft was ordered to pay 200 million dollars in damages to I4i for the patent infringement.
Microsoft announces in a statement that it plans to appeal the decision.
