SEK 10,000 in fines awaits companies that deal in cash trading and that do not have a certified cash register system after the New Year. And there are many who risk fines. According to Sveriges Radio, as few as 3,000 out of 200,000 businesses have reported to the Tax Agency that they have acquired approved cash register systems
But according to Conny Svensson at the Swedish Tax Agency, they will be extra kind to the entrepreneurs at first. He explains to Sveriges Radio that the issue of fines will initially be decided on a case-by-case basis.
– But in the long run, an inspection fee of SEK 10,000 may be relevant the first time. If it is the case that you do not get a cash register despite this, it is increased to SEK 20,000, says Conny Svensson to Sweden’s radio.
