NSS Labs published this week a security test of the largest browsers on the market. The test, which was carried out on behalf of Microsoft, tested the browsers’ ability to block malicious programs.
The test shows that IE8 managed to block 80 percent of the websites that tried to trick the user into downloading malicious software. Firefox 3 came in second and only managed to block 27 percent of the attempts.
Safari 4 passed in 21 percent of cases, Google Chrome 2 blocked seven percent, and Opera 10 beta finished last in the test with one percent.
