According to a new forecast from the analysis company IDC, 289 million computers will be sold in 2015, which corresponds to a decrease of 6.2 percent compared to the previous year.
The upcoming upgrade of Windows is pointed out as one of the reasons for the decline.
– Consumers will probably switch to Windows 10 quite quickly, but since it is a free upgrade, the need for a new computer is reduced, states IDC in the report.
The sale of touchpads is also expected to decrease during the year, more precisely by 3.8 percent. Here, the reduction is said to be due to the increasingly fierce competition from mobile phones with large screens, so-called phablets.
