Google announced on Friday that the company will release a series of new web TV channels on the YouTube video service next month. The new channels will consist of self-produced content in a range of different areas.
Among the channels listed are content in sports, news, music, education and culture. By developing its own content, Google hopes to attract more visitors to YouTube, which is already the world’s largest video service on the web.
According to Google, the content of the web TV channels will be original and professionally produced. The company has been preparing the launch for a year and the channels will be available in all countries.
The first channels will be released in November and gradually expanded with new channels. A total of just over 100 channels are planned.
