Here are the best products of the year (and the worst)

Acer’s power can is the only full potter

Laptops. The year 2009 started well. Already in issue 1, we awarded our highest rating: a 10. It was Acer’s Travelmate 6293 laptop that got such a high rating, and it would later turn out to be the year’s sole winner.
The computer has built-in mobile broadband, which means that no external 3g dongle is required to be able to surf. This is
convenient for anyone who travels, and the computer is a good travel companion. It weighs only 1.9 kilos, but still has excellent performance, a 12-inch screen and built-in DVD burner.
However, it should be added that the computer is a year old, and the rapid development of computers means that there have been new models with more power than the one we could find in the AcerTravelmate 6293.

Honey, I shrunk the computer

Desktop computers. If you choose a desktop computer, you don’t have to have a big and ugly lump on your desk. A new category is the desktop minicomputer, or nettop as it is also called. What it’s about are computers that weigh around a kilo and fit in the palm of your hand.
The Acer Aspire Revo is one of the nettops, and it took home the victory in our big comparative test. It stands out with nice graphics and the hdmi port that allows it to be connected to the television. The combination makes it a molded media center computer in the living room. “It doesn’t hurt that it’s really handsome,” added our tester Mattias Inghe.

Lightning fast Casio camera the best of the year

Digital cameras. With the Casio Exilim EX-FC100 in your pocket, you don’t have to worry about speed. This speed monster can handle no less than 30 frames per second in burst mode. Even in normal photo mode, it’s fast – less than a second between exposures.
The camera is well suited for beginners, not least thanks to a whopping 21 different subject programs. They make the camera automatically handle the settings for, for example, portraits, landscape images, night photos, or any other of all the other options that are built-in. The camera also has a built-in video function and a special mode that makes the videos adapted for Youtube. All of this earned it the Best in Test award in our summer test.

Here is the screen you can rotate

Monitors. Giant flat screens are no longer outrageously expensive. The luxurious Dell 2209WA costs just SEK 2,500, and for that money you get a 22-inch screen, i.e. the same size class as some televisions.
But it’s not just the size that impresses. The picture quality is fantastic, and unlike many other screens, you can also look at the screen from the side.
A plus is also that the screen can be turned up into a high-edge position. For anyone working with web design or A4 pages, it provides a better overview.

Video makes the iPod interesting again

Mp3 player. The iPod Nano from Apple is no longer just a music player. The latest version has received a number of new functions. The most interesting thing is the video camera, but there is also other fun. How about, for example, a built-in pedometer, microphone and fm radio with a smart pause function where what you listen to can be saved for up to 15 minutes?
Despite all the finesse, this super-sleek mp3 player weighs just 36 grams, and our tester David Bogerius was delighted: “The iPod Nano is hot again,” he noted.
