Fujitsu M440 ECO: Green mouse with hand-friendly surfaces

Almost a year ago, we tested PX Eco, Fujitsu’s environmentally friendly keyboard. We liked the idea, but weren’t completely impressed with the comfort. Now it’s the mouse’s turn, and this time everything falls into place.

The M440 Eco is a simple corded mouse, symmetrical shape, two buttons and scroll wheel with click. The comfort, control and click feel are really good, so for the vast majority it is a good utility mouse.

The mouse is mainly made of two recyclable, cellulose-based materials that replace ordinary plastic. One of these is popularly called “liquid wood” and has about the same properties like a piece of polished wood. The materials are gentler to manufacture and easier to break down than other oil-based plastics.

The surfaces of the mouse are very comfortable and somewhat reminiscent of polished wood or hard pressed paper. But it is just as durable, strong and durable as hard plastic. We would like to see more IT gadgets in such materials.
