Firefox brings password manager to Android – for free

Now Mozilla’s free password manager is also coming to Android as a separate app, reports Tech Crunch, which also notes that the app is quite simple in its execution. Not nearly as advanced as better known options like 1Password or Lastpass. Lockbox completely lacks the ability to add, edit, delete or suggest advanced passwords.

However, the app is free, and provides a more secure way to manage passwords. The app is also to be considered as a smart extension of the password management for our mobile, if we already use Mozilla’s Firefox browser on our computer. All our data in the browser is synchronized to the app, Mozilla writes in a blog post about Lockbox.

According to Mozilla, the iOS version of the app has already been downloaded 50,000 times. Whether the Android app fares as well remains to be seen. It can be downloaded right now from the Google Play Store.
